5 Masks for Every Skin Type

Mask 2

When it comes to masks I am a hoarder/collector/excessive user. I probably use a mask my face every day, or every other day if I don’t have the time, and I alternate with several masks. I don’t necessarily have many skin concerns, apart from the usual rash here and there, or a hormonal spot or dullness and the main one which is the pursuit of perfect skin all year round. Something that I think is achievable..ok maybe not perfect skin but pretty good skin.

Through the year my skin goes through phases when it is dry and peeling, combination and prone to spots, dull and dehydrated.. the list is endless. I have almost nailed the masks that work for me during these phases and I hope you can get some insight on my experience with these masks.

NIOD Flavanone Mud Mask

flavanone-mud-50ml

This is a terra-cotta colored mud mask which claims to decongest the skin by purifying, protecting and responding again the environmental congestion to the skin.

The texture is very smooth, almost like it is mixed with an oil even though it dries up completely.

Now, this mask is painful, not tingly, I mean it inflicts pain to the skin especially after washing it off. After about 10 minutes the pain subsides and the skin is nice and clean and glowing. It pretty much sorts out any spots or rashes on the skin in that 10 minutes.

I use this when I sense a spot coming on, when I leave it on for a couple of hours on the spot, or when my skin is not looking and feeling clear. I can just leave it on a spot and it will disappear in a day.

This mask is good for all skin types.

Caudalie Glycolic Peel Mask

181-masque-peeling-glyco-product_1_5_1One of my all time favorite masks. when my skin is dull this just removes all the dead skin on the surface of my skin. Soon after using this mask, I notice my skin peeling off after about 24hrs, not dramatic peeling but noticeable especially when in the shower. It only requires gentle rubbing of the dry skin with the palm of the hand and some water which then leaves the skin soft and supple and makeup goes on like a dream.

This mask is good for all skin types. I personally love it for oilier skin because I feel like it tames the oil, clears out the blockage in pores and encourages skin renewal.

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque

multivitamin-power-recovery-masque_57-01_590x617I have used this for over 10 years. I don’t have dry skin, so I don’t need such a rich nourishing mask but there are days when i feel like my skin needs a boost with the nourishing, and thats when  reach out for this mask.

It is a thick creamy mask that just feels like it is feeding your skin with some great nutrients and leaves the skin hydrated and loved.

It is best for dry skin that needs some nourishment.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

s1901230-main-LheroThis is a dark grey mud mask that is supposed to clear the skin by pulling out pore congestion and clearing your skin concerns.

Whenever I use this mask, it clears my skin from small rashes and spots and leaves the skin looking soft and clean. This has got to be one of my go to masks when my skin is looking bumpy and needs some TLC. It tingles a little bit but is bearable unless you have very sensitive skin, then the tingling might be unbearable. My skin looks clearer and brighter and my pores reduce considerably after use.

Works best for oily, combination-oily, acne prone skin.

Natura Bisse Womens C+C Vitamin Souffle Mask

13-large_defaultWhenever my skin looks dull I reach out for this mask. It has a suffle texture so it feels like you are being comforted by a nice cloud of goodness. It has vitamin C and antioxidants which help with renewing and brightening of the skin. After 2-3 uses the skin feels and looks smooth and nourished.

Good for all skin types.
