I am just starting to realize that I have so many black dresses, different styles but same color, black. This may be due to the fact that black dresses are easy to wear, are always in season and appropriate for any occasion.  Besides its ability to slim and instantly make anything look chicer is second to none.

While black dresses have long been a signifier for mourning in Western culture, the Japanese see it as a color that represents seniority and experience.

Black dresses on the other hand can sometimes be a bit plain, or basic if you ask me, and that’s where I like to add in some pop of color, either by carrying a really interesting bag or wear a colorful scarf. No other color conveys as many contradictions and contrast as black, and that’s probably why it’s the most loved color in fashion.

Here I accessorized this simple shirt dress with bright pink/purple scarf and even though I had an all black outfit it looked a little more interesting and sophisticated. Scarves are my favorite accessory as I am not really big on jewelry.
