Merry Christmas!

Finally, the single most long awaited day of the year is here. It is the season for giving and remembering those who are less fortunate to enjoy the day with family or do not have much to share with their loved ones.

Growing up we never really exchanged presents on Christmas day, not because we couldn’t but we saw it as a day for family to come together, cook and enjoy each others’ company. I looked forward to Christmas Eve when we prepared for the meals that were to be shared on christmas day.

We did however get new clothes to wear on Christmas Day so that was something exciting to look forward to. As kids we played the whole day with cousins who we did not see much during the year and it was a truly magical day for us.

Fast forward to adulthood, I am just very thankful for the year that has been. For family and friends we have made and the memories we have created. For good health and making it through the year alive. For the blessing of new family members and soothing the ache and pain for the ones we have lost. My heart is full of gratitude.

Christmas presents are just icing on the cake, a token of appreciation for the special people in our lives, because we couldn’t do this thing called life without them.

Last night we stayed in, watched Christmas movies all night, a tradition I didn’t have growing up. We learn something new everyday, never stop being curious.

Please remember the less fortunate people around the world and spread the christmas cheer around!
