My Evening Skincare Routine

Skin

I have had my fair share of acne and random issues with my skin and I have spent a lot of time and money trying to get  my skin to behave. After a lot of trials and errors, especially with products containing acids, especially salicylic acid, I managed to damage my skin and made it so hard for my makeup to look flawless. Of course I managed to hoard on different expensive foundations in the process. It was exhausting!!

A few months ago I came across skin care products that have completely changed my life! And by completely I mean 1000% turnaround on both the simplicity of process and the results. My skin looks amazing (if I do say so myself:-) The day I discovered medical grade skin care products and what they do for the skin, I was sold.

Here I am sharing with you my night time skin care routine –

The Process

Step 1 – Cleanse

On days when I use have makeup on, I use Exuviance Purifying Cleansing Gel as it is foaming cleanser with Alpha and Poly Hydroxy Acids that delivers a deep clean and improves the texture of the skin.

When I am looking for a gentle cleanse I use Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. It cleans the skin effectively without leaving the skin tight. It almost feels like there is some moisture added onto the skin after rinsing my face.

Step 2 – Apply Retinol

I use Skin Medica Retinol Complex 1.0. Retinol minimize the appearance of wrinkles, bolster skin’s thickness and elasticity, slow the breakdown of collagen (which helps keep skin firm), and lighten brown spots caused by sun exposure.

It looks and feels like a cream but once it is on the skin it gets absorbed pretty quickly and doesn’t really moisturize the skin so it’s important to moisturize the skin after applying this product.

Step 3 – Apply Eye cream

I use Skin Ceuticals AOX Eye gel and Eucerin Aquaporin eye cream. There is conflicting theories whether eye creams are necessary or not, personally I use them to moisturize my eye area and that’s that..

Step 3 – Moisturize

I use Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. It’s a soothing fragrance free moisturizer for sensitive and dry skin. It’s a little thick but it sinks into the skin and leaves it feeling soft and supple.

The star product in this routine is the Skin Medica Retinol Complex 1.0 and I will go in-depth on its benefits however there are precautions that must be observed while using this product another day.

I have followed to this simple routine every night and it has made a world of a difference. my skin is no longer prone to breakouts and small rashes like it used to.

It’s never too early to start taking your skincare seriously.

  1. I’ve paused at the point where you say salicylic acid is not good!!! I have oily skin and that’s the first ingredient I’m told to look out for when purchasing skin care stuff!!
Ok lemme continue reading…. Nice blog, and your skin is AMAZING!!!

    • I know a lot of people look for salicylic acid but it really dries out the skin and irritates it. Using gentle ingredients usually helps more.
      Thank you for reading!
